Besan (gram flour) Halwa Recipe.

Definition

Besan halwa is a traditional Indian sweet dish made with besan (gram flour), sugar, ghee (clarified butter), and water or milk. It is typically served as a dessert or a sweet snack, and is especially popular during festivals and special occasions.

Sure, here's a simple recipe for Besan (gram flour) Halwa:

Ingredients:

1 cup gram flour (besan)

1 cup ghee

1 cup sugar

3 cups water

1/2 tsp cardamom powder

A handful of chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios)

Instructions:

In a heavy-bottomed pan, add the besan and ghee. Mix well until the besan is coated with ghee.

Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring continuously, until it turns golden brown and you can smell the aroma of the roasted besan. This may take around 10-12 minutes.

Once the besan is roasted, add the sugar and water to the pan. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.

Cook the mixture on medium heat, stirring continuously, until it thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan. This may take around 15-20 minutes.

Add the cardamom powder and chopped nuts to the pan and mix well.

Turn off the heat and let the halwa cool for a few minutes before serving. You can garnish it with some extra chopped nuts on top.

Your Besan Halwa is ready to be enjoyed!
